Mr. Burrow has been the owner and operator of Economy Barber Shop for over 50 years. Economy is one of the last shops of The Avenue, formerly the central gathering place for the black community in the 1950s-1970s.
About the photo: Decked out in slacks and Stacey Adams shoes, Mr. Burrow cuts a client’s hair on a Saturday morning. The rest of his dapper outfit hangs safely away from any hair trimmings from his work.
